Deirdre started her career in Auckland with one of New Zealand’s most noteworthy hairstylists Paul Serville. She then extended her knowledge with training in Melbourne and London as a makeup artist working on fashion shoots, music videos and West End productions such as “The Phantom of the Opera”.

Returning to New Zealand, Deirdre worked on feature films including “The Piano”, “Desperate Remedies” and “Once Were Warriors”, many television commercials, and various high end fashion shoots. In 2000 Deirdre was nominated for ‘Best Makeup’ at the New Zealand Film and Television Awards.

Deirdre moved from Auckland to Marlborough in 2001 and establishing Locks and Lashes Powder Room in the beautiful surroundings of the regions oldest vineyard Auntsfield Estate . Operating for over 10 years now, it is firmly established as the ‘place to go’ for bridal parties in Marlborough.
